ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's soccer team is moving on to the semifinal round of the MIAA Conference Tournament after a 4-0 victory over Albion College at Docking Stadium on Saturday night. The win marks Adrian's first conference tournament victory since 2019 when they won the conference and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
The Bulldogs and Britons met in this exact game the last two seasons, with the Britons coming out on top in both cases of the conference tournament quarterfinal round. Although, Saturday's Adrian effort served as no match for Albion this time around as the Bulldogs got their sweet revenge by blanking and sending the Britons at home.
Annamarie Fosmoen opened the scoring for Adrian in the twenty-eighth minute off a lob downfield from
Sydney Anderson to break the 0-0 deadlock. Just a few moments later,
Alanna Earl sniped her fifth of the year to make it 2-0 and put the Bulldogs ahead at half time. Early in the second half, Fosmoen tallied once more, knotting her thirteenth of the season to put the Bulldogs up by three. Again, just a few minutes later, Earl found twine for her second of the game and sixth of the year to put the home team up by a 4-0 score.
Kelsey Zoli and
Leah Homan also picked up assists in the Adrian victory. In goal,
Gabrielle Fallon Revels made three saves to earn her team the win.
As a team, the Bulldogs out-shot Albion 17-9 in the attempt column and 10-3 in the on-goal column. Fosmoen led the Bulldogs in that category, with five attempts of her own and three on goal.
The No. 4 seeded Bulldogs will now await and prepare for Wednesday, November 6 when they head to Grand Rapids for the semifinal round of the conference tournament. The Bulldogs will battle with the No. 1 seeded Calvin University Knights at 7:00 PM. Tickets, live-stream links, and other information can be found on the
MIAA Conference Tournament Page.
After today's historical win,
Josie Huber and
Alanna Earl stopped by for a post-game interview to recap the win and their thoughts on what lies ahead for the team.
