TIFFIN, OHIO. –  The Adrian College women's wrestling team showcased their skills at the Tiffin Women's Open on Saturday.
In the 117-pound class, junior
Sharla Juhas opened the day with an impressive technical fall victory before concluding her run with a 1-2 record after a tough second-round loss in the consolation bracket.
Sophomore
Sophia Renteria, competing in the 124-pound class, also went 1-2 on the day. She secured a win by fall in her first consolation match before facing two challenging bouts in the following rounds.
Junior
Isabella Richardson had a standout day in the 145-pound class, finishing with a 3-2 record. After a narrow loss in her opening match, Richardson bounced back with a winning streak, advancing with a bye and then claiming two wins by fall.
Senior
Nahomi Marmolejo, wrestling in the 160-pound class, ended the day 3-2. Marmolejo received byes in the first two rounds of the consolation bracket, won the third round by decision, but fell short in the fourth round.
Mia Gaetjens delivered a notable performance in the 180-pound class, placing fourth with a 6-2 record. After a bye in the first round and a loss in the second, Gaetjens came back strong with consecutive wins in the third and fourth rounds by technical fall. She continued her momentum with a win by fall in the consolation semifinals but narrowly missed third place after a hard-fought final match, securing a solid fourth-place finish.
Adrian will host the Adrian College Women's Duals on Saturday, November 9, and the Adrian College Invitational on Sunday, November 10.
