ADRIAN, MICH. – The Adrian College women's wrestling team faced off against cross-town rival Siena Heights University in a midweek dual.
The match began with a forfeit in the 103-pound weight class, giving Siena Heights an early 5-0 lead. Adrian quickly answered back as junior Sharla Juhas capitalized on her own forfeit victory, evening the score.
Sophomore Sophia Renteria wrestled in the 124-pound weight class but was unfortunately pinned in the first period, allowing Siena Heights to extend their lead. The Bulldogs faced another setback in the 131-pound weight class, where a forfeit gave the Saints another five points.
Freshman Samantha Bultron stepped up next in the 138-pound division, battling hard but ultimately falling by a 4-0 decision. Junior Isabel Worthing competed in the 145-pound class but was pinned in the first period, further widening the gap for Siena Heights.
Senior Jasmine Hale, representing Adrian in the 160-pound weight class, fought through a tough match but was ultimately defeated in the second period.
However, the Bulldogs showed resilience as sophomore Xsaria Puente secured a forfeit victory in the 180-pound weight class, earning an additional five points for the team.
Freshman Mia Gaetjens delivered an impressive performance in the 207-pound class, pinning her opponent in the first period for a dominant victory and bringing the Bulldogs a well-earned six points.? The Bulldogs would fall in the dual 28-15.
The Bulldogs are back in action on December 15th where they will travel to Naperville, Illinois to compete in the North Central Open with competition starting at 9:00 AM.
