APPLETON, Wis. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team completed the sweep over Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs picked up two points in the NCHA standings after a 3-2 overtime win over the Vikings.
The first period went scoreless for both sides before Lawrence scored a pair of goals in the second to lead 2-0. With 5:45 to go in the second period,
Austin McCarthy put the Bulldogs on the board with a goal to trail 2-1 entering the third. Early in the third period,
Ben Loreto tied the game at 2-2. It took an overtime period to determine a winner. The Bulldogs killed off a penalty and later had a power play opportunity with under two minutes to play. With 20 seconds left on the clock,
Bradley Somers scored on the power play to win the game, 3-2.
Dershahn Stewart started in goal for the Bulldogs on Saturday where he finished the game with 32 saves.
Adrian returns home and will take a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Bulldogs will be back in action at home on Friday, December 6 when they host Marian University for a two-game conference series. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
