CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team opened its non-conference road trip at No. 10 SUNY Cortland on Friday night. After trailing late in the second period, the No. 2 Bulldogs scored four unanswered goals to come away with a 5-3 victory.
Cortland jumped out to a 1-0 lead on their home ice three and a half minutes into the game. Three minutes later,
Alec Lovisek netted an unassisted goal to tie the game 1-1. Cortland scored two goals in the second period to lead 3-1, but
Ian Amsbaugh took control scoring a pair of goals within 33 seconds of each other to take the score to 3-3 entering the third. Just under a minute into the third,
Bradley Somers gave Adrian its first lead of the night which was followed three and a half minutes later by Somers' second goal of the night to claim the 5-3 lead.
Amsbaugh led the team with four points on the evening adding two assists to his pair of goals.
Riley Murphy dished out three assists for Adrian.
Dershahn Stewart claimed another victory in net finishing the night with 34 saves.
The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Oswego State tomorrow afternoon to take on the Lakers who are receiving votes in the recent USCHO.com Poll. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
