ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College football team traveled to Trine University for its final road contest of the season. After an early battle with the Thunder, Trine pulled ahead late in the game to defeat Adrian, 52-32.
The Bulldogs led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter after
Trey Brueggemann rushed into the endzone to a touchdown. Trine answered back with back-to-back touchdowns before Brueggemann threw a pass to
Ryan Brumley for a 7-yard score. With 12 seconds to go in the half,
Jack Boike nailed a field goal to lead 17-14 at half.
Trine bounced back with two quick touchdowns in the third quarter, but
Jake Kelbert drove Adrian down the field, capping the drive with a 10-yard touchdown to trail by three after a success 2-point conversion. Trine added a touchdown to end the third, and another to start the fourth before Kelbet hit
Jalen Wallace with an 8-yard pass to trail 42-32. Trine added ten more points at the end of the fourth to finish the win.
Kelbert finished the day 24-of-42 passing for 291 yards and a touchdown.
Ethan Abberger led the Bulldogs in receiving with eight receptions for 94 yards followed by Wallace with eight receptions for 77 yards. Brumley added 71 yards receiving.
Tyson Hill led the way on the ground for Adrian finishing with 43 yards rushing on 12 attempts.
Maddox Woods had himself a day on defense with 10 total tackles and an interception returned for 57 yards.
Waides Ashmon and
Chase Barbosa each added six tackles.
Adrian closes out the season at home on Saturday, November 16 when they host Alma College for a 1:00 PM contest. Prior to Saturday's contest, the Bulldogs will honor the senior class for the football team, cheer and dance team, and the marching band.
