ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team wrapped up the NCHA Harris Cup Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon against Concordia Wisconsin. The Bulldogs picked up where they left off having another ten-goal game to win 10-1.
The first period went scoreless for both sides before the scoring began in the second.
Jaden Shields put Adrian on the board with a power play goal to lead 1-0. Concordia Wisconsin answered back with a power play goal of their own before the Bulldogs took over.
John Kaljian,
Casey Gerstein,
Zachary Heintz, and
Riley Murphy all scored in the second period to lead 5-1 at the intermission.
In the third period,
Mathew Rehding scored followed by a goal from
Alec Lovisek. Murphy and Kaljian went on to score their second goals of the game in the third period to lead 9-1. Kaljian's second goal came on the penalty kill. With under a minute to go in the game,
Cameron Babiak found the back of the net to win 10-1.
Heintz had a five-point afternoon as he added four assists to his goal. Rehding added two assists on the day with his second one hitting the 100-career points milestone.
Dershahn Stewart started in goal for Adrian on Saturday where he played 42 minutes where he totaled 14 saves.
Jackson Bernard played the final 18 minutes in goal for Adrian where he added four saves.
Adrian advances to the NCHA Harris Cup Semifinals which will be held in Adrian at the Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday, February 24 at 2:00 PM. The Bulldogs will know their opponent on Saturday night when the NCHA Quarterfinals conclude.
