ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team hosted Aurora University on Saturday afternoon in the Harris Cup Semifinals. The Bulldogs went on to shutout Aurora on Saturday with the help of a 19-save afternoon from
Dershahn Stewart and a two-goal afternoon from
Zachary Heintz and
Ryan Pitoscia.
Adrian jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period.
Zachary Heintz found the back of the net on the power play off a rebounded shot from
Mathew Rehding to open the scoring. Late in the period, the Bulldogs found themselves on a 2-on-1 advantage and scored on a shot from
Ryan Pitoscia to lead 2-0 entering the intermission.
The teams battled in the second period, but the Bulldogs added another goal to lead 3-0 entering the third. Heintz went on to score his second goal of the game with 17 seconds to go in the period. The Bulldogs also went on to add another goal in the third period as Pitoscia scored his second of the game to pull ahead 4-0.
Heintz and Pitoscia each finished the game with a pair of goals while
Dershahn Stewart finished the afternoon with a shutout in goal and 19 saves.
Bradley Somers added two assists in the game.
The Bulldogs move on to the NCHA Harris Cup Finals scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 PM at the Arrington Ice Arena. Adrian will take on the winner of No. 2 St. Norbert and No. 3 Trine who are slated to play Saturday, February 24 at 8:00 PM EST.
