HARRIS CUP FINALS PREVIEW: Men's Hockey to Host St. Norbert in Search of Automatic Bid to the NCAA Tournament

ADRIAN, Mich. – The NCHA Harris Cup Finals returns to the Arrington Ice Arena as the top seeded Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team hosts No. 2 St. Norbert College. The Bulldogs earned a spot in the finals after a pair of blowouts against Concordia Wisconsin before picking up a 4-0 shutout over Aurora University. St. Norbert defeated Marian University in the two-game quarterfinals before defeating Trine University in overtime in the semifinals.
 
Adrian and St. Norbert split their two-game regular season series at St. Norbert earlier this season. The Bulldogs won the opening game of the series 4-1 before falling to St. Norbert in the second game, 6-2. Adrian has won the last two Harris Cups while St. Norbert hasn't won the Harris Cup since the 2019-20 season. Adrian enters the Harris Cup Championship with a 22-5-1 record and rank No. 3 in the USCHO.com Poll, and No. 2 in the Pairwise Rankings. St. Norbert sits at 21-6-0 ranking No. 8 in the USCHO.com Poll and No. 11 in the Pairwise Rankings.
 
The Bulldogs score 4.8 goals per game this season led by Zachary Heintz who has 17 goals, and Mathew Rehding with 16. Rehding also leads the team in assists with 28 while Jaden Shields holds 26 assists for Adrian and Bradley Somers adds 23. The Bulldog defense has been strong this season average 1.8 goals against per game with the help of an experienced back end and Dershahn Stewart in goal. Stewart has an 18-5-1 record on the season with five shutouts, a 1.75 goals against average, and a .936 save percentage.
 
St. Norbert is led by All-Conference selections Liam Fraser (17G, 26A) and Adam Stacho (18G, 23A) along with the NCHA Freshman of the Year, Logan Dombrowsky (14G, 21A). The Green Knights average 3.8 goals per game while allowing 2.3 per game. St. Norbert goalie, Hunter Garvey, was named to the NCHA All-Freshman team with a 17-3-0 record with a 1.84 goals against average and .922 save percentage.
 
The Bulldogs are looking to win their tenth Harris Cup Championship this weekend with a win over St. Norbert. The winner of the NCHA Harris Cup Finals will earn the NCHA Automatic Bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Harris Cup Finals will take place on Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 PM EST at the Arrington Ice Arena.
