GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College women's basketball team headed to Calvin University for a conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs would put up a strong effort, but would come up short, 73-60.
The Bulldogs would struggle to shoot in the first twenty minutes of play, going 6-24 (25%) from the field. Calvin would come out on an 11-5 run within the first five minutes of action. Adrian would trade baskets with the Knights the rest of the first quarter and trail 16-9 after the first ten minutes.
Kali Barber would hit a jumper to bring the score to within five points. The Knights would respond quickly and take a 24-12 lead halfway through the second quarter. The Knights would go into the halftime break winning, 33-19. Adrian would go 0-6 from beyond the arc and shoot 25% from the floor.
In the third quarter Calvin would boost its halftime lead up to 25 points with just under three to go in the quarter.
Morgan Babb would total nine points in the quarter trying to get Adrian some momentum into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter of the play, Babb would hit a jumper to get the score down to 18. After that Calvin regained control of the game and went back up 24 with four minutes remaining. The final score for the Knights and the Bulldogs was 73-60 in favor of the Knights. Adrian would shoot 54% from the floor in the second half as well as go 3-6 from the three-point line.
To lead the Bulldogs was Babb with 15 points going 8-9 from the stripe.
Kylie Skidmore ended the game with a team-high six rebounds as well as three assists.
