NEW WILMINGTON, Penn. – The Adrian College Men's Lacrosse team wrapped up its Spring Break trip on Tuesday, falling to Westminster College, 12-10.
The Bulldogs fell behind early in the game, allowing three goals to Westminster before they were able to get on the scoreboard.
Brandon Hoerauf continued his hot start to the season, scoring Adrian's first goal in the opening quarter, to leave the Bulldogs down 3-1 after one.
In the second quarter, Westminster would add four more to Adrian's two tallies, bringing the score to 7-3 at half time.
Jake Coakley and
Michael Jonas would each find twine for the Bulldogs in the second frame.
The Bulldogs would continue to fight back in the third quarter, out-muscling the Titans by a 3-2 score, making it 9-6 heading into the final quarter of play. Adrian goals in quarter three came twice from Jonas and once from Hoerauf.
Westminster would ultimately get the last laugh over Adrian in the fourth quarter, adding three more tallies of their own which was enough to secure the win. The Bulldogs showed a strong push back late in the game, scoring four goals in the final quarter. Coakley and
Alec Winegar would each collect goals in the fourth, while Jonas added two more to finish the game with five on the day.
Stat leaders for Adrian included Jonas in points and goals with five,
Austin Selvage and Jonas in shots with nine,
Steven Martin in ground balls with five, and
Cameron Reed in caused turnovers with three. Goaltender
Sam Spangler made 18 saves in goal for Adrian, holding his team in the game right until the final buzzer.
The Adrian College Men's Lacrosse team will be back in action on March 9 at Docking Stadium when they take on Capital University. Face off at 1:00 PM.
