Jennifer Wheaton Announced as New Head Coach of Cheer Team

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Jennifer Wheaton, the new Head Coach of the Adrian College Cheer Team.

Wheaton spent last season as an Assistant Coach to Jessica Patterson. She also has experience as a Head Middle School Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Addison Community Schools in 2019-2020. Her expertise helped lead the team to a conference championship and a third place finish at State Finals. Her athletic experience includes four years on the Acrobatics & Tumbling team at Adrian College, where she was voted Most Valuable Player for her junior and senior year, as well as two seasons of collegiate cheerleading both sideline and competitive.

Wheaton was thrilled to comment on her newest position, emphasizing her eagerness to get the new season started:

"As an Adrian College Alumni, I am so excited to be back with the Bulldog family and coaching young female athletes! Former coach, Jessica Patterson, has been a huge mentor to me. She coached me in high school and invited me to coach beside her in high school cheer and last year here at AC. It is an absolute honor and privilege to accept this position and take over for her. I look forward to bringing my experience in both Cheerleading and Acrobatics and Tumbling to the program, developing strong, smart, and versatile athletes. GO BULLDOGS!"

The Adrian College Cheer Team will be in action in the coming weeks as the Football season approaches.
