Cheer Team Close Action at NCA Nationals in Florida

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Adrian College cheerleading team wrapped up action at the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) Nationals this past weekend in Daytona Beach.

The cheer team showcased an outstanding performance at the 2025 NCA College Nationals, held on April 10–11 in Daytona Beach, Florida. As one of the nation's premier cheer competitions, NCA Nationals brings together thousands of athletes and spectators from across the country each year. Adrian College proudly represents one of only nine collegiate programs from the state of Michigan to qualify for this prestigious event annually.

Competing in the highly competitive All-Girl Intermediate division, which featured a strong field of Division II and Division III programs, the Bulldogs delivered a dynamic routine marked by athleticism, precision, and resilience. While the team experienced some difficulty during the pyramid section of their Day One performance, they returned on Day Two with marked improvements. Their day two performance earned significantly higher marks, resulting in an overall score increase of nearly three points.

By the conclusion of the event, Adrian College's final score surpassed eleven other teams in the All-Girl Intermediate division—five of which were Division I programs—underscoring the team's strength and competitive spirit.

"As a coach, I am very proud of everything the team has accomplished this season. We had a lot of injuries and losses, but they came back even stronger," said Head Coach, Jennifer Wheaton '19. "A lot of members had to learn different positions to make our routine work and they pushed through every setback thrown at them. I am excited for the future and to push to the advanced level competitive cheer next year!"

As the program looks ahead, the team is already setting its sights on advancing to a higher competitive level in the upcoming season, as Adrian College recently announced the addition of Competitive Cheer for the 2025-26 season.
