ADRIAN, MICH. – Adrian College women's volleyball claimed a thrilling five-set victory over Hiram College on Friday night, fueled by a standout performance from senior Amber Morris. The Bulldogs came out strong, dominating the first set 25-13, with junior Megan Reckling orchestrating the offense and tallying 26 assists for the match.
Senior Amber Morris stole the spotlight, leading Adrian with 27 kills and shattering the program's single-game kills record, which had stood since 2015. Heading into the decisive fifth set with 19 kills, Morris added six more to cement her place in history.
Hiram responded in the second set with a hard-fought 25-20 win, but Adrian bounced back in the third, taking it 25-19 behind the impressive defensive effort of senior Mya Minjares, who led the Bulldogs with 38 digs. Sophomore Virginia Rowan also had a stellar outing, notching 16 kills, while fellow sophomore Kendall Sullivan contributed 21 assists to keep the offense flowing. Hiram forced a dramatic fourth-set overtime win at 26-24, setting up a tense final showdown.
Heading into the decisive fifth set with 19 kills, Morris added six more to cement her place in history. Both teams battled fiercely, but Adrian emerged victorious in extra points, 17-15, with Morris sealing the win on her record-breaking 27th kill.
The Bulldogs will look to carry this momentum on the road as they face Earlham College on Friday, September 27, at 3:00 PM.
