GUELPH, ONTARIO. - The Adrian College women's wrestling team concludes the Guelph Open, highlighted by top three finishes.
The women's team also delivered impressive performances across a variety of weight classes, with standout finishes and notable comebacks.
In the 110-pound weight class, junior Sharla Juhas demonstrated incredible resilience after an initial first-round loss. Juhas battled her way through the consolation bracket, securing a 3-1 record and ultimately claiming a well-earned third-place finish.
Sophomore Sophia Renteria had a strong showing in the 121-pound division, finishing as the runner-up with a 2-1 record, showcasing both skill and determination throughout the tournament. Freshman Samantha Bultron competed in the 136-pound class, finishing with a 1-2 record while gaining valuable experience in the competitive field.
Junior Isabelle Richardson competed in the 143-pound division, though she faced tough competition and finished the tournament with a 0-2 record. Senior Nahomi Marmolejo, on the other hand, finished in third place in the 158-pound class with a 1-2 record, displaying perseverance and grit.
Freshman Mia Gaetjens, in the 158-pound division, was another standout, finishing in second place with a 2-1 record. Gaetjens showcased her dominance with a bye and an impressive tech fall, rounding out a strong tournament for the team.
Adrian is back in action on Thursday, January 23 where they will host Tiffin University for Senior Night.
