Men's Hockey Powers Past Dubuque in Series Opener

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team opened its series against the University of Dubuque with a dominant 7-2 victory on Friday night.

The scoring got off to a quick start as Anthony Mollica netted his first career goal just 18 seconds into the game. Later in the period, Connor May extended the lead to 2-0, but Dubuque answered with a goal to cut the deficit. The game was tied 2-2 after the second period when Bradley Somers put Adrian back on top with a go-ahead goal. Less than a minute later, Frank Tafelski made it 4-2 with another goal before the end of the period.

In the third, Adrian's power play took over, scoring three goals with the man advantage to seal the 7-2 victory. Patrick Saini capitalized on a 5-minute major penalty from Dubuque, while Ian Amsbaugh added a pair of power play goals to cap off the Bulldogs' offensive outburst.

Mollica, Somers, and Alec Lovisek each contributed two assists, while Amsbaugh also added an assist to go along with his two goals. Nolan Suggs got the start in goal for Adrian, finishing with 18 saves. The Bulldogs' power play has now scored at least two goals in each of the last six games, including three goals in four of those contests.

Adrian will look to complete the series sweep against Dubuque tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM ET.
