ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's basketball team came up just short of the Kalamazoo College Hornets on Wednesday night at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center, dropping the contest by just two points.
Adrian and Kalamazoo clawed back and forth in what was an exciting and tight defensive contest. The excitement went right down to the wire, with both teams trading scores, but it was the Hornets who forced a foul on the Bulldogs, sending themselves to the line for the winning shots with 2.5 seconds remaining. A late push from Adrian was close, but Kalamazoo held on for the 48-46 win.
Morgan Babb was stellar for the Bulldogs, dropping 21 points and 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the year.
Aubrie Ickes, who's been hot as of late, tallied 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort.
Kylie Skidmore played hard in the paint as well, grabbing 10 boards on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs shot 28.8% from field-goal range, but only 7.1% from downtown. Adrian did convert most of its free throws though, going 11 for 17, good for a 64.7 shooting rate.
The Adrian College women's basketball team moves to 3-7 in MIAA conference play with Olivet up next. The Bulldogs are back in action next week on February 5 at 7:00 PM in Olivet.
