DE PERE, Wis. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team kicked off its series against St. Norbert College on Friday night with a thrilling overtime victory. The Bulldogs and Green Knights battled to a 1-1 tie before Emma Simon scored the game-winning goal in overtime to secure a 2-1 win.
After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs broke the deadlock in the second with a goal from Emma Simon. However, St. Norbert responded later in the period to tie the game 1-1. Following a scoreless third period, the game headed to overtime. After a pass was tipped wide, Simon seized the opportunity, breaking away to net the game-winner and give the Bulldogs the victory.
Zoe Lohrei and Riley Johnson each earned assists, while Annie Gilbert made 23 saves in goal for Adrian.
With the win, the Bulldogs earned a crucial pair of points in the NCHA standings, moving into a tie with St. Norbert for first place in the conference. Adrian will look to break the tie and pull ahead in the standings tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 PM ET.
