ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College ACHA Division I women's hockey team battled hard through their weekend series hosting no. 2 Minot State University at Arrington Ice Arena in a top 10 match up. The Bulldogs came up with a 0-0 draw Thursday evening, however took the win in the shootout.
After a scoreless 60 minutes of hockey, the Bulldogs headed into overtime Thursday evening. With no score in overtime, the Bulldogs headed into a shootout. Junior Sophie Kuzminski was the hero of the shootout in the third round to be the lone goal to give the Bulldogs the shootout win. Graduate student Rieley Jessie-Gerelli was in goal for Adrian, recording her first shutout of the season with 34 saves from the Beavers.
Friday afternoon, graduate student Hailey Wiltshire opened up the scoring with just over three minutes into the game. The rest of the game had been silent until the last five minutes of the third period when Minot tied the game up forcing overtime once again. With another scoreless overtime, the Bulldogs headed into a shootout. This time, senior Taylor Robinson was the hero for Adrian in the shootout. Jessie-Gerelli behind the pipes for the Bulldogs again, saving 52 shots from the Beavers.
The Bulldogs will be back in action for another home series, which is family weekend, hosting the defending national champions, Liberty University. Puck drop set for Friday at 7:00pm and Saturday at 3:00pm.
