ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team opened up conference play on Saturday night where they hosted Kalamazoo College. Things didn't go as planned for the Bulldogs as they fell 2-1 in the conference battle.
Kalamazoo struck early putting a shot on goal from a deep free kick that deflected its way into the back of the net. With under two minutes to go in the first half,
Teagan Bergeron tied the game for Adrian on a penalty kick to take a 1-1 tie into the break. In the second half, Kalamazoo drew a foul in the box giving the Hornets a penalty kick which was successful to pull ahead 2-1 and hold on to win the match.
Adrian and Kalamazoo each finished the game with 11 shots with both teams throwing four on goal. The Bulldogs had opportunities on five corner kicks with two coming in the first half and three in the second. Three of Adrian's shots came from
Ashley Hughes who put two on goal. Gabrielle Fallon Revels and
Katelyn Stanton split time in goal for Adrian with each of them recording a save.
Prior to the game, the Bulldogs honored its senior class with a short ceremony. The seniors honored included Revels,
Zoe Greenbaum,
Alanna Earl,
Annamarie Fosmoen, Bergeron, and Stanton.
There is still plenty of conference action ahead for the Bulldogs as they will pick up on Wednesday, October 8 when they host Alma College at 7:00 PM for Lenawee United – Youth Soccer Night.
