Football Moves to 5-0 for First Time Since 2011

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College football team was back at home on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Albion College in the second MIAA contest of the season. The Bulldogs moved to 5-0 for the first time since 2011 after a 28-7 win over the Britons.

In the first quarter, the Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead after a six-yard rushing touchdown from Trey Brueggemann. Brueggemann extended the Bulldog lead to 14-0 after a five-yard touchdown to in the second quarter. Albion got on the board with 57 seconds remaining in the half on a one-yard rush. In the third quarter, Noah Beaudrie broke off for a 69-yard rushing touchdown to give the momentum back to the Bulldogs and lead 21-7. Brueggemann struck again later in the fourth quarter with a two-yard rushing touchdown to lead 28-7 and win the game.

As a team, Adrian totaled 368 yards of total offense while allowing only 128 yards on the day. Brueggemann led the Bulldogs with 135 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 26 attempts. Beaudrie totaled 61 yards rushing on 11 attempts. Beaudrie finished 20-of-25 passing with 162 yards while Ethan Abberger led the receivers with 12 receptions for 76 yards.

On defense, Liam Karry recorded eight total tackles for Adrian including a tackle for loss while Bennette Gilde racked up six tackles, and Ethan Burrows five. Burrows finished the game with two tackles for loss and recorded an interception.

Adrian will head into the bye week with a 5-0 record (2-0 MIAA) and will prepare for its next game on Saturday, October 18 when they travel on the road to Calvin University. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
