ADRIAN, Mich. – In the inaugural match at the new Sweebe Family Athletic Center dome, the Adrian College men's soccer team marked the occasion with a thrilling 3–2 win over Olivet College on Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs (3–9, 1–0 MIAA) wasted little time giving their home crowd something to cheer about. In the ninth minute, Kyle Jennings found the back of the net to give Adrian an early lead.
After halftime, Andy Ignatovich doubled the advantage in the 48th minute, finishing off an assist from Kyle Peterson to make it 2–0.
Olivet (1–5–2, 0–1 MIAA) battled back, scoring twice in quick succession. The Comets buried a penalty kick seven minutes later to level the match at 2–2.
Adrian quickly responded to reclaim momentum. In the 71st minute, Dominic Kretschmer delivered the game-winner, heading home a setup from Ignatovich to put the Bulldogs back in front for good.
Goalkeeper Eli Sizemore made five saves to preserve the victory as Adrian secured its first conference win of the season — and a historic first triumph inside its state-of-the-art indoor home.
The Bulldogs will continue MIAA play later this week as they look to build on the energy from a memorable night under the dome. They will head out to Kalamazoo College Saturday evening for a 7:00pm kick off.
