Football Cruises to Road Win over Kalamazoo, 34-7

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Adrian College football team continued its strong season with a dominant 34-7 road win over Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs improved to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in MIAA play.

Adrian opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 2-yard rushing touchdown from Noah Beaudrie. The Bulldogs extended their lead in the second with a 4-yard rushing score by Ethan Abberger, followed by a 19-yard touchdown pass from Beaudrie to Braiden Whitaker to make it 21-0.

Late in the first half, Adrian capitalized on a Kalamazoo turnover as Whitaker found the end zone again on a 13-yard reception with 1:07 remaining to send the Bulldogs into halftime leading 27-0.

After a scoreless third quarter, Kalamazoo got on the board early in the fourth. Adrian responded with another Beaudrie-to-Abberger connection—a 7-yard touchdown pass—to seal the 34-7 victory.

The Bulldogs racked up 506 yards of total offense, while Kalamazoo finished with 370. Beaudrie turned in an efficient performance, completing 33 of 41 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing 10 times for 71 yards. Steven McCoy led the ground game with 81 yards on 10 carries.

Whitaker paced the receiving corps with 11 catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns, while Abberger hauled in 15 receptions for 96 yards and a score. His 15 receptions tied the Adrian single-game record, first set by Mitch Gabriele on Oct. 30, 2010, against Albion College.

Defensively, Maddox Woods led the team with nine tackles, including one for loss. Ethan Burrows added two interceptions, giving him seven on the season. Koronnis Davis and Liam Karry each recorded one interception, while Quincy Dorsey contributed seven tackles and three pass breakups.

The Bulldogs return home to Docking Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 8, for Senior Day against Trine University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
