ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team began the NCHA conference season on Friday night as they hosted Marian University. After a slow start to the game, the Bulldogs picked things up in the second and later claimed a 6-0 victory to earn their first win of the season.
The first period went scoreless for both sides before the Bulldogs netted four goals in the second period.
Paige Pomerleau started the scoring for Adrian on the power play before
Maddy Loe scored shortly after to lead 2-0.
Emma Simon scored a goal on the power play before netting her second goal later in the period to lead 4-0. In the third,
Hannah Markovich scored her first collegiate goal to lead 5-0. Later in the period, Pomerleau found the back of the net again to pull ahead 6-0.
Kiera Stack started in goal for Adrian where she recorded a 23-save shutout. Pomerleau, Simon,
Riley Johnson,
Elizabeth Sturgeon, and
Ava Mattaliano all earned a pair of assists on the night. Adrian outshot Marian 38-23 in the game.Â
The Bulldogs will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they conclude the series with Marian at 4:00 PM.Â
