ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team closed out the first half of the season with a dominant performance, sweeping Hiram College on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs earned an 8–0 victory to improve to 10–2–0 on the season before heading into the holiday break.
Adrian opened the scoring in the first period as Alec Lovisek found the back of the net, followed by a goal from Carter Real to give the Bulldogs a 2–0 lead after one. The momentum continued in the second period, beginning with a power-play goal from Theo Thrun to make it 3–0. Ian Amsbaugh added another power-play tally before Lovisek scored his second goal of the game midway through the period. Bradley Somers capped off the scoring in the frame to give Adrian a commanding 6–0 advantage after two periods.
The Bulldogs added two more goals in the third period, with tallies from Jacob Suede and Somers, to seal the 8–0 win.
Adrian controlled the game throughout, outshooting Hiram 69–8.
Nathaniel Bannister led the Bulldogs offensively with three assists, while Amsbaugh finished with a goal and three assists. Frank Tafelski, Jack O'Hanisin, and David Clarke each recorded two assists. Jackson Bernard earned the start in goal and made eight saves to secure the shutout.
Adrian will take a well-earned break for the holidays before returning to action at home on Friday, January 2, when the Bulldogs host NCHA opponent Aurora University in a non-conference matchup at 3:00 p.m.
