ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 2 Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team opened the second half of its season on Friday afternoon, hosting No. 4 Aurora University in a non-conference matchup. The Bulldogs were unable to generate consistent offense and fell 4-1 to the Spartans.
After a scoreless first period, Aurora opened the scoring early in the second on a 5-on-3 power-play goal and later added another to take a 2-0 lead. With just over a minute remaining in the period, Frank Tafelski found the back of the net for the Bulldogs to cut the deficit to one. Aurora regained momentum late in the third period, scoring with 4:30 remaining to make it 3-1 before adding an empty-net goal to seal the victory.
Aurora held a slight 30-28 advantage in shots on goal. Jacob Suede and Anton Sorensen recorded assists on Adrian's lone goal, while Ryan Piros made 26 saves in net for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday, January 4, when they travel to Aurora for a rematch scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET.
