ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team welcomed Wilmington College to the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center on Wednesday night, but the Bulldogs came up short in a 97–75 loss.
Both teams struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the opening minutes before Wilmington put together a run midway through the first half. Adrian responded by cutting into the deficit, but a late surge by Wilmington sent the Bulldogs into the locker room trailing 53–37.
Coming out of the break, Adrian showed renewed energy and opened the second half with several strong possessions. Wilmington answered by settling into its offense and stretching the lead. The Bulldogs made one final push, but time ultimately worked against them as Wilmington secured the 97–75 victory.
Adrian finished the night shooting 42 percent from the field, 22 percent from three-point range, and 20-of-25 from the free-throw line.
Luke Rager led the Bulldogs with a team-high 18 points to go along with two rebounds and five assists.
Darrius Welch was a presence on the glass, recording a team-high seven rebounds while adding nine points and two blocks.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Monday, December 29 where they will host Bluffton University. Tipo-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
