ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 7 Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team kicked off their final series of the regular season on Friday night with a dominant 9-0 victory over Trine University.
The Bulldogs wasted no time, exploding for four goals in the first period. Callie Wollschlager opened the scoring, followed by Riley Johnson, who netted an unassisted goal. Maya Roy added another goal later in the period, and Aileen Dopheide capped the first-period scoring.
In the second period, Nicole Pietrucha found the back of the net, and Johnson scored her second of the game to give Adrian a commanding 6-0 lead heading into the third. Courtney Ben, Emma Simon, and Gia Avalone each added goals in the final period, sealing the 9-0 win.
Johnson also contributed two assists to her impressive performance, while Zoe Lohrei tallied three assists. Annie Gilbert started in goal, recording four saves, before Vanessa Ruban took over in the third period, finishing with five saves. Adrian outshot Trine 69-9.
The Bulldogs will close out the regular season on Saturday, traveling to Trine University for a 7:00 PM game.
