ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's basketball team hosted Albion College on Saturday afternoon in another MIAA contest. Despite a hard-fought battle, the Bulldogs fell short, losing 70-65 to the Britons. The game also served as Senior Day, with Adrian honoring their two seniors, Bailey Taylor and Kylie Skidmore.
In a special moment, Adrian College head coach Sam Miller gave Bailey Taylor her first start of the season, following a season-ending injury that had sidelined her. Adrian won the opening tip and passed the ball to Taylor, allowing her one final play before her collegiate career came to a close.
The Bulldogs started the game slowly as Albion jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. After a timeout, Adrian cut the deficit to three but trailed 18-13 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs fought back, eventually tying the game 32-32 with 3:20 remaining in the half. Adrian continued their momentum, taking a six-point lead after back-to-back three-pointers from Morgan Babb and Emma McElroy. Though Albion chipped away at the lead in the final minutes, the Bulldogs held a slim 39-38 advantage at halftime.
Albion took control in the third quarter, outscoring Adrian 18-8. Trailing by nine entering the fourth, the Bulldogs refused to give up, cutting the deficit to just three with 25 seconds remaining. However, Albion sealed the victory with a pair of free throws with 16 seconds left on the clock.
Morgan Babb led the Bulldogs with a career-high 30 points and 14 rebounds, earning her fifth double-double of the season. Emma McElroy and Hannah Lisch each added eight points off the bench, with Lisch also leading the team with four assists.
Adrian remains in control of the No. 6 seed for the MIAA Tournament, with two conference games remaining. The Bulldogs will have the chance to clinch a spot in the tournament on Wednesday, February 19, when they host Hope College at 7:00 PM.
