ADRIAN, MICH. - The Adrian College Women's Wrestling team hosted the NCWWC Regional Championships on Saturday, coming out with an eighth-place finish with 16.0 total team points. Freshman
Mia Gaetjens advances to the NCWWC National Championship with her fourth-place finish.
In the 117-pound weight class, juniors Alex Hart-Butcher and
Sharla Juhas both battled hard but finished the regional tournament with 0-2 records.
At 124 pounds, sophomore
Sophia Renteria faced tough competition, finishing 0-2. In the 138-pound division, freshman
Samantha Bultron also concluded her regional run with an 0-2 record.
Junior
Isabella Richardson competed in the 145-pound weight class, where she finished 0-2. Fellow junior
Isabel Worthing also wrestled in the 145-pound division, ending with the same result.
In the 160-pound division, senior
Nahomi Marmolejo showed resilience after dropping her opening bout. She responded with an impressive win by tech fall before falling in the third round of the consolation bracket, also by tech fall. Freshman
Mina Casarez also wrestled in the 160-pound division, finishing 0-2.
Freshman
Mia Gaetjens had a strong showing in the 180-pound weight class. After dropping her first match by tech fall, she bounced back with three consecutive victories—two by pin and one by tech fall. Gaetjens advanced to the third-place match, where she ultimately fell but secured a fourth-place finish, earning a spot at the National Championships.
Mia Gaetjens advances to the NCWWC National Championships where it will be held in Coralville, Iowa on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8.
