Austin Selvage Nets Three Goals as Men's Lacrosse Falls Short to Kenyon College 17-11

GAMBIER, Ohio. -- The Adrian College men's lacrosse team traveled to Kenyon College on Sunday afternoon where the Bulldogs fell short, 17-11.

The Bulldogs came out strong in the opening period, netting four goals, with junior Alec Winegar putting Adrian on the board first. Just nine minutes later, junior Austin Selvage added a goal, assisted by junior Tyler Ristua. Senior Riley Edwards followed suit, scoring with six minutes remaining in the first, assisted by senior Michael Jonas. Selvage wasn't done yet, quickly scoring his second goal of the period, with the assist going to senior Brandon Hoerauf.

Though Adrian finished the first quarter trailing by two, the Bulldogs remained focused. Hoerauf brought Adrian within one early in the second quarter. With the clock winding down in the first half, Adrian surged with two more goals with Edwards finding the back of the net again and senior Derek Hassel scoring, both assisted by Selvage and Jonas. The half ended with Adrian down by three, but with plenty of fight left in them.

In the third, the Bulldogs answered back with two quick goals from Jonas, assisted by Hassel. Adrian kept pressing in the fourth, with Selvage and Hassel each adding a goal. Despite the late rally, Kenyon maintained their momentum and ultimately secured the 17-11 victory.

Selvage was the standout player for the Bulldogs, contributing three goals and an assist for four points on five shots. Hassel added two goals and one assist, while Jonas led the team in assists with three, also scoring two goals of his own.

Adrian is back in action on Saturday, March 1 where they will host Wittenberg University with the opening face-off scheduled for 1:00 PM.
