NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Adrian College men's volleyball team hit the road to Illinois on Friday for two separate road matches against nationally-ranked opponents, No. 15 Aurora University and RV North Central College. Although, the Bulldogs dropped both contests, 3-0.
Adrian rolled into Aurora early in the afternoon for the first match of the day, standing across from their most notable opponent yet. The Bulldogs took on a tough task of facing one of the nation's top teams, and fared pretty well, but couldn't muster a set win as the Spartans gathered 25-17, 25-12, and 25-18 wins to win in straight sets. With only 19 total team kills through three sets, it was
Zach Molnar who led the way with 4 of his own.
Rolen Maclin, as he has for most of the season so far, led his team in digs with 6.Â
Jahryck Muliagatele played a key role in the offense, registering 11 assists.
With lots of time left in the day, the Bulldogs quickly hit the road down to Naperville to clash with the Cardinals of North Central, another highly-touted opponent. Unfortunately for the traveling Bulldogs, they came up short once again in straight sets, dropping three contests by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-18.
Beck Fieldhouse led with 7 kills, Muliagatele grabbed 13 assists, and
William Morris stood atop the solo block column with 2. Molnar was all over the court, leading with 8 digs and adding 4 kills.
The Adrian College men's volleyball team will wrap up its road trip tomorrow with a contest at Concordia University Chicago. First serve at 3:00 PM EST.
