MEQUON, Wis. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team completed a sweep of Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon, claiming a 6-1 victory in the second game of the series. Ryan Pitoscia led the charge, recording a hat trick and marking his 100th career point.
Pitoscia got the Bulldogs on the board early, with his first-period goal making it the 100th point of his career. With just seven seconds remaining in the period, Austin McCarthy extended the lead by scoring a shorthanded goal, putting Adrian up 2-0 at the break. In the second period, David Clarke added a power-play goal, followed by Pitoscia's second shorthanded tally.
Pitoscia completed his hat trick in the third period, extending the Bulldogs' lead to 5-0. Concordia Wisconsin managed to score late in the period, but Frank Tafelski answered with a goal of his own, sealing the 6-1 win for Adrian.
In addition to his hat trick, Pitoscia also registered an assist, finishing the game with four points. Bradley Somers played a key role in setting up the offense, notching three assists. Dershahn Stewart earned the win in goal, making 33 saves to secure the victory.
With the win, Adrian has clinched a home playoff series in the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs. The Bulldogs will wrap up their NCHA regular-season schedule next weekend with a home-and-home series against Trine University, beginning on the road on Friday, February 14, at 7:00 PM.
