ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's basketball team grabbed an impressive win over Calvin University on Saturday afternoon at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center, the program's first victory over the Knights since January 26, 2019.
The win over Calvin ended a twelve-game drought and came along with an impressive effort at both ends of the court. The Bulldogs dominated the Knights in quarter one, holding the Knights to a single free-throw point. Throughout the remainder of the game, the Knights came back to keep it close, but the Bulldog offense came through big to hold off the rival Knights.
Leading for Adrian on Saturday was
Aubrie Ickes, who tallied 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and a steal.
Kylie Skidmore added 15 points and 8 boards of her own, while
Morgan Babb and
Hannah Lisch each notched 12 points to give the Bulldogs the home win.
Contributing to the illustrious effort was the shooting percentages for Adrian as the Bulldogs registered a 47.4% rate from field-goal range, a 42.9% rate from three-point range, and a 75% rate from the line; all of which bested the Knights as well.
The Adrian College women's basketball team moves to 6-15 on the season, adding another MIAA conference win as well to bring their record to 5-7 with four games remaining. The team will be back on the court on Wednesday, February 12 at Trine University for a 7:30 PM tip.
