ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Adrian College women's wrestling team competed in the D3 National Invite this weekend where the Bulldogs placed 14th with 33 team points.
Junior Sharla Juhas wrestled in the 117-pound weight class, finishing the weekend with a solid 2-2 record. Sophia Renteria competed in the 124-pound division, going 1-2 for the weekend.
In the 138-pound weight class, freshman Samantha Bultron received a bye before falling in the second round. However, Bultron bounced back with two victories before being eliminated in the consolation third round.
Junior Isabella Richardson also competed in the 145-pound division, posting a 2-2 record with both victories coming by pinfall. Her teammate, junior Isabel Worthing, also wrestled in the 145-pound weight class, finishing the weekend with a 1-2 record.
Senior Nahomi Marmolejo represented the 160-pound division, starting strong with a tech fall win in her first match before dropping her next two to finish with a 1-2 record.
Sophomore Xsaria Puente competed in the 160-pound weight class but was unable to secure a win, finishing 0-2 for the weekend.
Freshman Mia Gaetjens was the standout of the weekend, dominating the 180-pound weight class and securing second place. Gaetjens impressed with four straight victories, two by pinfall and two by decision, before ultimately falling by tech fall in the championship match.
Adrian is back in action on Saturday, February 22 where the Bulldogs will host the NWCCC Regional Championship.
