ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 3 hockey team is proud to announce that
James Schmidt has been named Team Captain for the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
Schmidt, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, will be entering his third season with the Bulldogs this Fall. The Junior forward spent last season as an Assistant Captain for the team.
Over the course of his first two seasons with Adrian College, Schmidt has tallied 19 goals and 13 assists, equaling 32 points over 45 games played to date. Of his 19 markers, Schmidt has found the back of the net four times while shorthanded, three times on the power-play, and one standing as a game-winner, speaking to his value on special teams and being able to make a difference on any given day. In addition, Schmidt has managed to muster four multi-goal games during his Bulldogs tenure, including one hat-trick last season.
Not only does the 5-10, 165-pound winger provide an offensive threat, but he possesses a physical presence on the forecheck and a reliable presence in the defensive zone that the team and Head Coach,
Brett Siewertsen '21, both value deeply.
"J.T.'s the kind of teammate and leader every locker room needs - someone who leads by example, holds himself and others to a high standard, and always puts the team first," stated Siewertsen about his new captain.
"He shows up every day ready to outwork everyone, push his teammates to be better, and do whatever it takes to help us succeed. He leads with integrity, grit, and passion. He truly embodies what it means to be a Bulldog, both on and off the ice, and we're proud to have him lead us into the season!"
Schmidt, who wears #16, also carries a level of discipline able to catch anyone's eye, having taken only one penalty over his first two campaigns. He will continue to be relied on to play important minutes in all facets of the game and showcase his trustee voice and work ethic as a competitive leader for his team.
The Bulldogs also announced that its Assistant Captains will later be determined after training camp and before the new season kicks off.
