Olivet, Mich. - The Adrian College cross country team opened its season on Friday afternoon at the Olivet 5K Open, highlighted by a dominant performance from Will Houvener, who raced to a first-place finish.
Houvener led the pack with a blazing time of 15:14.8 to secure the individual title. Ryan Morris crossed the line next for Adrian in 28th at 16:16.9, followed closely by Joshua Sharp-Pelto in 33rd at 16:21.5. Gavin Shelton secured the fourth scoring spot for the Bulldogs, placing 42nd in 16:46.1, while freshman Beau Shaffer impressed in his debut with a 46th-place finish in 17:03.4.
On the women's side, Bridget Waterstardt led the way with a standout performance, placing sixth overall in 18:49.7 to secure a top-10 finish. Lily Etelamaki followed in 24th with a time of 19:56.2, while Olivia Hyatt crossed in 50th at 21:25.7. Emma Frost was close behind, taking 52nd in 21:33.9, and Ava Arnes rounded out Adrian's top five with a 60th-place finish in 22:19.4.
