Women's Soccer Grab Season Opening Win over Hiram at Home

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's soccer team opened its 2025 campaign at Docking Stadium on Friday night in front of a heavy and supportive crowd, which helped lead them to a 3-1 victory over the Hiram College Terriers.

The Bulldogs got off to a commanding start to the game, carrying most of the play for the first portion of the contest. It wasn't long before the Bulldogs cashed in either, as Captain Teagan Bergeron came down to the box off a corner kick in the 20th minute to clean up a mess and header the opening goal into the back of the Hiram net. Adrian led 1-0 at halftime.

Adrian then continued to press early in the second half as the Terriers didn't have much of an answer for the Bulldogs. Annamarie Fosmoen picked up right where she left off last season, as the Senior attacker buried home her first goal of the season off a beautiful fast break down the right side of the field off a pass from Alanna Earl. Later on, Delaney Batur tapped home a cross from Victoria Siegan to give the home team a 3-0 cushion. It was all Adrian on Friday as Hiram couldn't muster anything until the final dying seconds of the match, converting on a distant free kick to break their own ice.

Over the course of the 60 minutes, Adrian managed to out-shoot Hiram by a 15-5 tally, with 7 of those attempts coming from the speedy Fosmoen.

As the Bulldogs held on for the win, they'll have a quick turnaround for a Sunday match with Ohio Wesleyan University at 2:00 PM.

Delaney Batur, Teagan Bergeron, and Annamarie Fosmoen joined the Sports Information staff after the game for a post-game chat to discuss the win, their goals, and how excited they are to get the season going.
