ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team hosted Calvin University on Saturday afternoon for a MIAA conference matchup, where the Bulldogs came up short in a 92-68 defeat.
The game opened with a physical tone as both defenses set the pace early in the first half. Calvin built a lead midway through the period, but Adrian answered with a late run to close the gap heading into halftime, trailing by 10.
Coming out of the break, Calvin took control of the game, efficiently knocking down shots to extend its advantage. With time becoming a factor, the Bulldogs made a push late in the second half, but Calvin was able to respond and secure the 92-68 victory.
Adrian finished the game shooting 36 percent from the field, 31 percent from three-point range, and an efficient 17-of-20 from the free-throw line. Darrius Welch recorded his second consecutive 20-point performance, finishing with 20 points, three rebounds, one assist, one block, and two steals. Luke Rager added 12 points while contributing two rebounds and three assists. Jeremiah Dallas led the Bulldogs on the glass with seven rebounds and added three points.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, January 14 where they will travel to Hope College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
