Somers Tallies Four Assists as NCAA Men's Hockey Defeats Lake Forest, 6-1

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team opened its NCHA conference series with Lake Forest College on Friday night at Arrington Ice Arena. The Bulldogs snapped their losing streak and started the second half of the conference season on a high note, earning a 6-1 victory over the Foresters.

Adrian jumped out to a quick start in the first period as Lucas Deeb opened the scoring to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Goals from Theo Thrun and Jack O'Hanisain followed, sending Adrian into the first intermission with a 3-0 advantage. Lake Forest generated two breakaway opportunities in the opening frame, but goaltender Ryan Piros stood tall, turning aside both chances.

The Foresters got on the board early in the second period with a rebound goal to cut the deficit to 3-1. Adrian responded quickly, however, as Ian Amsbaugh netted a power-play goal to restore the three-goal cushion and make it 4-1 heading into the third period.

The Bulldogs continued to control play in the final frame. Jacob Suede scored on the power play before Ben Loreto capped the scoring with a goal of his own, securing the 6-1 win.

Bradley Somers led the way offensively with four assists, while Amsbaugh, David Clarke, and Anthony Mollica each recorded two points. Piros earned the win in net, finishing with 23 saves.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday afternoon as they look to complete the series sweep, with puck drop scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
