NEWTON, Mass. -- The Adrian College men's volleyball team opened its 2026 season on the road Friday night, falling in four sets to RV Lasell University, 3–1, at the Athletic Center in Newton, Massachusetts.
The Bulldogs dropped the opening two sets by scores of 25–18 and 25–17 before responding with a strong third set, taking a 25–20 win to keep the match alive. Lasell closed the contest in the fourth set, 25–15, to secure the victory.
Adrian was led offensively by Sam Landers, who finished with a match-high 17 kills while hitting .292 on the night. Dominic Rees added five kills, and William Morris chipped in four. As a team, the Bulldogs recorded 34 kills on 96 total attacks, finishing with a .146 hitting percentage.
Andrew Graczyk played a key role on both sides of the ball, totaling 20 assists and a team-high 10 digs. Marco Gomez followed with nine digs, while Carles Baza added six digs and recorded Adrian's lone service ace of the match.
At the net, Carson Bell anchored the block with four total blocks, while Marc Solans contributed three and Graczyk added two. Adrian finished with seven total blocks, narrowly trailing Lasell's eight.
The Lasers also held an advantage from the service line, posting seven aces compared to Adrian's one. The Bulldogs showed resilience in the third set, holding Lasell to a .000 hitting percentage while posting 10 kills of their own, but were unable to sustain the momentum in the final frame.
The Bulldogs will look to build on the positives from its season opener as they continue their road trip to Curry College for a tri-match against host Curry at 11:00 AM and Rivier at 1:00 PM.
