UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Adrian College track and field team opened its indoor season with a strong showing at Saginaw Valley State University, highlighted by a historic performance from
KJ Scott.
Scott made an immediate impact by breaking the program record in the weight throw, placing third overall with a mark of 16.38 meters (53-9.00). The throw eclipsed a 14-year-old record previously held by Derek Stoll, set in 2012, and marked an outstanding start to the season for the Bulldogs.
On the men's side, Brandon Berry led the way in the field events by earning a second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.94 meters (6-4.25). Ian Chavis placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.77 meters (18-11.25), while Willem Evenson finished 10th in the pole vault at 3.90 meters (12-9.50). Scott also competed in the shot put, finishing 15th with a throw of 12.18 meters (39-11.50).
In the running events, Josh Trudell posted a time of 24.30 seconds to place 28th in the 200-meter dash. Joshua Sharp-Pelto finished 17th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.83, Chase Nyack placed 39th in the mile at 4:46.15, and Gavin Shelton crossed the line 29th with a time of 9:41.08 in the 3,000m run.Â
The women's team also turned in several notable performances. Alysia Townsend had a strong meet, taking second place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.62 meters (5-3.75) and finishing seventh in the 60-meter finals with a time of 8.15 seconds. Piper Pierce placed ninth in the long jump with a leap of 4.46 meters (14-7.75).
The throwing events, Mallory Platzer finished 11th in the shot put with a throw of 9.53 meters (31-3.25), while Ava Jones followed closely in 12th at 9.39 meters (30-9.75). Bridget Waterstradt delivered a standout performance in the 3,000-meter run, earning a second-place finish with a time of 10:45.35.
In the middle-distance events, Isabell Peltier placed 15th in the 800-meter run at 2:41.29, with Sidney Pentoney close behind in 17th at 2:44.31. Abigail Raftis finished 14th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:11.17, followed by Olivia Dunscombe in 15th at 1:11.41.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, January 23 where they will travel to Hillsdale College.
