LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team opened its NCHA conference series at Lake Forest College with a 5-2 victory over the Foresters on Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period. Hunter Reardon opened the scoring, followed by goals from Paige Pomerleau and Maddy Loe. Adrian continued to build its lead in the second period as Julia Richardson found the back of the net to make it 4-0 before Courtney Ben added a goal to give the Bulldogs a 5-0 advantage.
Lake Forest responded with a pair of goals in the third period to bring the final score to 5-2.
Riley Johnson recorded a pair of assists on the afternoon, while Ben added an assist to her goal for a two-point performance. Kiera Stack started in goal for Adrian and made 14 saves over two periods. Vanessa Ruban played the third period, stopping 11 shots. Adrian outshot Lake Forest, 39-27.
The series finale is set for Saturday afternoon as the Bulldogs look to complete an NCHA series sweep. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET.
