MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team opened play at the SUNY Morrisville New Year Tournament on Friday afternoon, defeating Trinity College 2-0 to advance to the tournament championship.
The opening period remained scoreless before Hannah Markovich broke through in the second period with a power-play goal. Hunter Reardon and Courtney Ben tallied assists on the score. The Bulldogs carried the 1-0 lead into the third period, where play remained tight until Trinity pulled its goaltender late in the game. Parker Beyer sealed the victory with an empty-net goal to secure the 2-0 win.
Adrian held a slight 29-27 edge in shots on goal for the contest. Kiera Stack earned the shutout in net for the Bulldogs, stopping all 27 shots she faced.
The Bulldogs return to the ice on Saturday afternoon in the SUNY Morrisville Tournament Championship, where they will face the winner of SUNY Morrisville and No. 2 Amherst at 3:00 p.m.
