DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team opened its two-game NCHA road series against the University of Dubuque on Friday afternoon. After a slow start, a strong second period propelled the Bulldogs to a convincing 7-1 victory.
Adrian took a 1-0 lead after the first period on a goal from Bradley Somers. The Bulldogs broke the game open in the second period, as Frank Tafelski and Nathaniel Bannister found the net, followed by a pair of power-play goals from Ian Amsbaugh and Somers.
In the third period, Tafelski scored his second goal of the game, and Amsbaugh added his second to extend the lead to 7-0. Dubuque scored late to account for the final 7-1 margin.
Ayden Peters, Somers, David Clarke, Amsbaugh, and Julien Jacob each recorded two assists in the win. Ryan Piros earned the start in goal and made 18 saves.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. ET as they conclude the series against Dubuque.
