ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College NCAA hockey team welcomed the University of Dubuque to Arlington Ice Arena on Friday night and put together a dominant performance, rolling past the Spartans 6–0.
The Bulldogs struck early as Paige Pomerleau opened the scoring, finding the back of the net with assists from Riley Johnson and Sophia LaColla. Adrian continued to apply pressure throughout the opening frame, and Pomerleau netted her second goal of the night with just under a minute remaining in the first period, again assisted by Johnson.
Adrian carried its momentum into the second period, where Pomerleau completed the hat trick just seven minutes in, with helpers from Johnson and Courtney Ben. The Bulldogs weren't finished there, extending the lead to 4–0 minutes later when Hannah Markovish scored, assisted by LaColla and Carly Carpenter.
In the third period, Adrian capitalized on a power-play opportunity as Courtney Ben added a goal with assists from Pomerleau and Hunter Reardon. The Bulldogs sealed the shutout with their sixth goal of the night when Carpenter found the net off a quick assist from Ben.
Between the pipes, Kiera Stack was outstanding, stopping all 15 shots she faced to earn the shutout victory and secure the win for the Bulldogs.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, January 24 as they will take on the University of Dubuque in the final game of the 2-game series. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
