ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team traveled to Trine University on Thursday night for a non-conference matchup, but the Bulldogs were unable to capitalize on their chances as Trine secured a 4-1 victory.
Adrian struck first late in the opening period, taking a 1-0 lead with under a minute remaining. Nathaniel Bannister and Ian Amsbaugh assisted on the goal by Lucas Deeb, sending the Bulldogs into the first intermission with the advantage.
Trine responded in the second period with two goals to take a 2-1 lead heading into the third. The Thunder added two more goals in the final period to pull away for the 4-1 win.
Despite the result, Adrian held a significant edge in shots, outshooting Trine 41-21 on the night.
Ryan Piros got the start in goal for the Bulldogs and recorded 17 saves.
Adrian will travel to Plymouth, Michigan, on Friday night for an exhibition matchup against the USA U18 National Team Development Program, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
