SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA) introduced its All-Academic Team presented by Yamaha more than two years ago to recognize collegiate anglers for their academic achievements and success in the classroom.

Throughout the season, 12 student-athletes are nominated to the All-Academic Team presented by Yamaha. At the conclusion of the season, one of the nominees will be selected as the Academic All-American presented by Yamaha at the ACA National Championship. Each nominee receives a scholarship from the ACA and Yamaha, while the overall winner earns additional prize money.

Following the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open, the ACA announced three additional nominees to the All-Academic Team presented by Yamaha, including Adrian College's Jose Alten.

A senior at Adrian College, Alten is majoring in Business Entrepreneurship with a minor in Economics. He has demonstrated an ability to balance the demands of competitive collegiate fishing with a strong commitment to academic excellence. Originally from Washington, Alten worked diligently to earn the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level for Adrian College in Michigan.

Beyond his accomplishments on the water, Alten has achieved significant academic success. He is a participant in the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program and was awarded an Adrian College Ribbons of Excellence Student Research Grant. The grant will support his opportunity to present his research at a conference in 2027.

Alten's selection to the All-Academic Team presented by Yamaha recognizes his dedication to both his academic pursuits and collegiate bass fishing.
