HOLLAND, Mich. – After opening up conference play with a sweep over Olivet, Adrian women's volleyball headed to Hope College for an early MIAA test against the Flying Dutch. Hope entered today receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 poll.
The Bulldogs held close to Hope early in the first set. A kill by Ava Acre tied the set at 6-6. Two errors by Adrian and three kills by the Dutch helped Hope lead 12-6. The lead climbed, and the set ultimately ended in favor of the Dutch, 25-16.
In the second set, Adrian found themselves trailing early. Back-to-back Acre kills, an Avery O'Shaughnessy service ace, and a Hope attack error kept the Bulldogs within two points. The Dutch maintained a lead for most of the set, but Adrian showed life late. Two Dutch errors and another O'Shaughnessy service ace made it a four-point deficit, 24-19.
Going for the sweep, the Dutch entered the third set firing on all cylinders. A four-point run by the Bulldogs was quickly erased by a six-point run by Hope to seal the set victory, 25-11.
