ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's basketball team hosted Kalamazoo College on Wednesday night inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center, pushing the Hornets to double overtime before falling 77–72.
Kalamazoo built early momentum in the opening quarter, jumping out to a 24–14 lead after one. The Bulldogs responded in the second quarter, chipping away at the deficit to cut the Hornets' lead heading into halftime.
Adrian carried that momentum into the second half, continuing to close the gap in the third quarter and eventually taking the lead. By the end of the third, the game was tied, setting up a competitive fourth quarter.
Late in regulation,
Morgan Babb delivered a clutch layup to knot the score at 56. Adrian then came up with a key defensive stop on Kalamazoo's final possession to force overtime. The first overtime period was a back-and-forth battle, with neither team able to gain separation. Babb once again came through in the closing moments, knocking down a free throw to send the game into a second overtime.
In the second overtime, Kalamazoo connected on a pair of late three-pointers to pull away and secure the 77–72 victory.
The Bulldogs shot 23 percent from the field, 18 percent from three-point range, and 34-for-42 from the free-throw line. Babb led Adrian with a double-double, recording a team-high 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Aubrie Ickes added 14 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, February 13 where they will host a non-conferene game against Hardin-Simmons University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
